ORLANDO —
The CONTIGO fund is seeking grant proposals for LGBT and Latinx-focused efforts that aim to improve the lives of Central Floridians who were directly impacted by the Pulse nightclub shooting in June.
The deadline to submit the application is Dec. 2.
CONTIGO, which means “with you” in Spanish, is the response of a national coalition of philanthropic organizations and LGBT advocates to the attack of the people inside Pulse nightclub during Latin Nite, when 49 people, many of whom were Latinx individuals, were killed.
The initiative is under the umbrella of the South Florida-based Our Fund Foundation.
“This attack had a devastating effect on two communities, Latinx and LGBTQ, which were already struggling for recognition and acceptance,” said Marco Quiroga, the CONTIGO fund Program Director. “It exposed many needs in Central Florida’s diverse communities that had gone unmet. Our mission is to change that permanently and support those most marginalized on their journey of healing and empowerment.”
CONTIGO will distribute more than $1 million in grants to existing and emerging organizations working to help heal and empower LGBTQ and Latinx communities.
Applicants must address medium-term to long-term solutions to help strengthen the population they serve.
